Still Breathing

2 notes

I've actually had friends contact me to see if I'm ok because it has been soooo long since I've posted. So, just a very quick explanation is in order, I believe.

Three weeks ago today, on the second day of our two week beach vacation, my computer decided to, for lack of a better word, crash. It wasn't quite dead, and I was actually able to get it turned back on and back-up everything that mattered, but for the most part, it was worthless. A friend back home FedExed my operating system disc to me at the beach and we thought the problem was solved. However, for the first summer in three years, we couldn't find a wi-fi signal to "borrow" the entire two weeks. So I had to just pack it up and accept that God really wanted me to read a few books, take some great photos, eat tons of scrumptious food and drink lots of yummy mojitos. All this while, it goes without saying, spending really special time and making very special memories with Scott, Sam and a few of our closest friends.

When I got home and tried to finally connect to the internet, we discovered that reinstalling the OS meant that drivers had to be reinstalled and all kinds of fun things. Did some of this, did some of that, and actually got connected and played on Facebook for a while. Yay! Things were finally looking good! Before going to bed, I got a message that Windows needed to install about 81 updates. Not surprising considering all the bugs that came with Vista back in the Fall!

When I went to bed, my computer was installing updates and working fine. When I woke up, I no longer had a computer. The hard drive finally died during one of the restarts in the middle of the night. Thanks to Dell's superior customer service, however, I now have a brand-new hard drive and everything is FINALLY running smoothly.

It may take me a very long time to catch up between the e-mails, Tweets, 1000+ unread blogs in my reader, Facebook updates....oh, suddenly my head hurts.

I guess that wasn't a very quick explanation after all. Sorry. Anyway, I've missed you! I can't wait to start reading and writing again!
