Blah, Blah, Blah

0 notes

I feel like it has been a very long time since my last post. I don't really have anything special to tell you, just wanted you to know that all is well and I've been thinking about you.

School has started back and I am trying hard to get back into the work grind. I am loving my new school and the special ladies I work with but I am also missing my old school and my dear friends.

It is very strange to feel like I belong in two places at once.

I've been reading some new blogs this week, thanks to Brenna. (I'll tell you more about those later.) A special shout out to her and congratulations! She has just found out she's expecting twins. Yeah!!!

My sister came for a visit this weekend. We had a nice time. She babysat while Scott and I went out to dinner. We decided a few months ago that we did not take advantage of our family enough when they came to visit. We never give them a chance to have Sam all to themselves. So we did just that! Jess and Sam had lots of fun playing together. The three of us went to the zoo Sunday morning and then some serious shopping in the afternoon.

Honestly, not much happening around here. I'm trying very hard to get a video of Sam playing marimba. He has blossomed all of a sudden and I can't wait for you to hear him play Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. However, it may take a while. I swear, as soon as I get the camera, he quits playing! It will be worth the wait, though. The only picture I have to share is of Sam and Daddy playing a duo. I hope this holds you over until I have something more exciting to share!

For Mandy

1 notes

Sam LOVES sprinklers. He could watch them for hours. But it has taken all summer to get him to actually play in the sprinklers. We ended our "Summer 'O Fun" with a special day that included another trip to the water park. We had the whole park all to ourselves! He enjoyed the sprinklers much more this time than he did at the beginning of the summer. Actually, looking at the pictures, it is hard to say who had more fun, Sam or Daddy! So, Jack Thomas, we're ready for next summer! (Just click the play button!)

Future Firefly

0 notes

Is this not the cutest costume ever? My new Chasing Fireflies catalog arrived today and when I saw it, I told Scott I was tempted to go ahead and buy it. He said, "But it's for a girl." Exactly! Like it or not, my dear, two kids from now we'll need it! To order your own, or to see the other most precious costumes in the world, check out www.chasing-fireflies.com. This one makes me miss my best friend, Stef:

Waitin' for the Ladies

Sam and I joined Carson and Ryan for a morning in the pool at Pat's farm. We had lots of fun! There was a hot tub connected to the pool that the kids enjoyed, too. I only took a few pictures because the camera battery died. I am shamed that I was so unprepared!

Thanks to Pat for another wonderful, special day!

Freakin' Our Freaks!

Sam freaked us out yesterday. Scott and I exchanged another jaw dropping look as Sam started counting backwards along with what he was watching on TV. So, of course, I quizzed him all day and he can in fact count backwards from 7 if you start him off with 10-9-8. As with many freakish things he does, we don't know how he learned to do it. But, we're learning that he only needs to hear a song a few times or watch you do something twice before he kinda knows it. We're getting used to the jaw drops!

He also made me laugh later in the morning when he went up to the refrigerator, grabbed both handles and put all his might into pulling them open. While he pulled he said "Heave. Heave. Heave." I thought I would bust a gut! I've never heard him say it before but I do know where it came from. The day before, on his favorite program, Word World, the ants were pulling on a rope and using the chant.

It should be noted, though, that he only saw those ants once. It is very scary to think about how observant he is!

Silence Can be Deafening

1 notes

Yesterday was laundry day and I spent a lot of time in the morning cleaning house. Sam, meanwhile, entertained himself. Now, some say silence is golden, but around here you never know what you'll find when Sam gets quiet. I had to keep my camera close at hand all morning because I couldn't believe where I kept finding him during those oh so scary quiet times.

Seriously, I don't know why I worry!
