Sam’s Very First Photo

3 notes

I spent a lot of time today going through files on my computer and trying to take back some storage space.  I cannot believe how much stuff builds up and hides within files.  Not to mention the GBs upon GBs of photos and digital downloads I’ve collected.  Anyway, as I’m digging through files, I’m finding all kinds of memories.  I had to share this one.  This is Sam’s VERY FIRST photo.  Wasn’t he cute?!

New Puddle Splashin' Boots

0 notes

I finally found some puddle splashin' boots for Sam yesterday! The biggest shoe store in Columbia had three pairs left, all on the clearance wall, and one of them fit Sam perfectly. I never have that kind of luck! Thank goodness Sam loves them. In fact, he put them on first thing this morning and he wore them to Mimi's house. We're looking forward to all the rain moving in this afternoon so he can play in his new rain gear.

Sam Meets Paint Part 2

3 notes

After painting with watercolors, I showed Sam another way to paint.  He was so focused on painting this little dinosaur.  I think he showed me his detail-oriented side during this project.  After he was done painting, I asked him what he was going to name the dinosaur.  He immediately gave him a name…I just have no idea what he said.  I know it starts with an S and every time you ask him, he says the same thing.  It sounds like “Say-ee.”  It must be his Swedish slipping through

Before you enjoy the pictures, I have to share our dinner conversation last night.

Daddy:  Sam, do you know where pork chops come from?

Sam: The kitchen!

Daddy: How about chicken?

Sam: From chicken.

Daddy: And what about steak?

Sam: Unicorns!

Mommy's Little Escort Service

1 notes

This has never happened before. Sam cried out for me at about 2:45 last night. Well, that happens all the time, but there's more. When I went into his room, he was sitting on his bed and had pulled his pajama bottoms and his pull-up off. I asked him about it and he said he had to go potty. So I explained that there was no need to call for me, that he could get up to go potty anytime he needed to. He went and we both crawled back into his bed. He actually asked for underwear, but we're not going there yet. Since this was the first time he's wanted to go to the potty in the middle of the night, I reminded him that he could go all by himself and then climb back into bed and go to sleep.

Just as we settled down, I heard a familiar whimper and turned to see Putter staring up at me with that familiar, pleading look. As I stomped off to let her out, all I could think was "Can't anybody go pee in this house without me???"

Thankfully, Scott slept through the night.

Sam Meets Paint

2 notes

Last week, I introduced Sam to painting. I had a set of Crayola watercolor paints from when I named a color in their United States special edition pack contest. Actually, I have a ton a fun Crayola products that I pull from as Sam gets older. Anyway, I digress. Sam was fascinated by the watercolors. I had fun teaching him how to use the brushes and mix the water with the paint.

Then, he realized that if one brush and one color was fun, two must be twice as much fun!

DSC_0003 DSC_0006

And it wasn’t long after that he realized he could paint himself.

DSC_0012 DSC_0013

Well, that naturally led to fingerpainting.

Then he experimented with adding water straight on the paper.

Not as easy as he thought it would be.

Sitting back to evaluate his work...

…he declared his masterpiece “All done!”

Today, watercolors. Tomorrow…acrylics!

Well, maybe not tomorrow. Check back here on Tuesday. Because THAT was a lot of fun!

Ready For Spring!

0 notes

I don’t know about you, but around here, we are ecstatic about today being the first day of spring!  Bring on the barefoot weather…

…and even the Spring showers!

Especially now that Sam has his new umbrella!

Sam does not ask for things very often, even when we’re out shopping.  So when he fell in love with an umbrella his friend Samuel showed him, and then spent the evening and morning begging for said umbrella, I had to find it.   He was SOOOOO excited yesterday afternoon when I pulled the umbrella out of the bag!  He walked around the yard saying “I think it’s gonna rain today.” Oh, you have no idea how much I wanted it to start raining!

Doctor McHottie's Concerto

0 notes

Recently, Scott was the featured concerto soloist with the USC Symphonic Band. It was a great performance and a big night for Scott.

It was a big night for Sam, too! He got to watch Daddy perform with the "orchestra" as Sam would call it. He was sooo excited when we took our seats and he could see all the instruments. I wish I had a clear picture to show you the look on his face as he watched Scott perform with the band. He was so intent and watching every little thing. After the standing ovation, Sam cried as Scott left the stage so we had to hurry down to find him.

Sam's most favorite show, and really the only one he watches right now, is Disney's Little Einsteins. This child can use musical terms like nobody's business! It is just amazing the vocabulary he's developing from watching this show. And his knowledge of instruments! It was a very special treat for Sam when we got to go on stage with Daddy right after the concert. Sam knew exactly which instrument he wanted to check out as he repeatedly asked to see the harp. I don't think I've ever heard him talk about it, but he must have noticed it while we watched the concert. Thankfully, the harpist was still on stage, packing everything up. She uncovered the harp and let Sam explore it. I was a nervous wreck, but she was wonderful and let him really get into it.

Check out these pictures from Scott and Sam's big night. Scott is the hottie on the right, surrounded by the timpani.

Here is my new current favorite photo. I tried to straighten it a little, but too much would have to be cropped off to do that. So, Sam will just have to look like he’s leaning!

From Sam's Camera

0 notes

Here's another album of pictures from Sam's camera. I think he is definitely improving! I love how each picture actually tells a story from our lives. It's interesting (to me) to see his perspective of things. I also love to upload the photos from his camera and find out what he chose to take pictures of, what he saw as important.
