I Never Knew Fear Until Tonight

Panic set in as I felt the worst feeling I've ever felt tonight. Sam ran away from me in Wal-Mart this evening. He took off through the clothing racks. I couldn't find him and I was panicked and terrified at the same time. I just tried really hard to listen for him and finally heard him calling me, a slight tone of panic in his voice. But he was OK when I found him. I hope I never have to feel that again. If it does happen again, though, and it probably will, I realized later that I may have had better luck if I had gotten down on the floor to look through the racks.

Funny. Last night I wanted to auction him off on eBay for crying so loudly in Chick-fil-a. Tonight, I'm thanking God for letting me feel that fear for only just a moment and for then returning him safely to me.

Ew, what an awful feeling.

I remember the first time I "lost" one of my kids in the store. You will have flashes like it was yesterday. With me, it was Zellers...and my 3 year old boy thought that it was funny to run from me carting his 1 year old sister. What panic. I cannot imagine the horror a parent feels when their child does not come back, or even worse, is taken from them. Awful. Glad your little turd came back quick safe and sound:)

One of my great fears. Especially since Carson is such a people person. Last weekend at the grocery store he shook hands and tried to talk to every person we passed. If he ever got away from me all it would take is some person saying "we'll help you find your mama" and he'd take their hand and be gone.

I've been trying to talk to him about stranger danger, but I don't want to go overboard and make him scared of everybody.

So, so glad Sam is safe!! I bet you squeezed him so hard he lost his breath...

I lost my guy in the mall once, I was in a state of frenzied calm until I found him, after that I was shaking and crying. It really was the longest 5 minutes of my life. He was sitting at the makeup counter at Macy's waiting for me!
