Read at Your Own Risk

Note:  If you are my MIL, you may not want to read this post. Consider yourself warned.

My bloggy friend, Jennifer Juniper at Hope Studios, is having a “Boring Women Have Clean Houses” contest that I just had to enter!  Pop on over there to read all about it and to enter yourself.  But you have to do it before tomorrow.  Sorry, I’ve been having computer issues (more on that later) and I’m just getting this post rewritten and published.  Anyway…because she’s forcing me to do this :)…here goes…

It is a good thing my MIL loves me.  Or at least that she accepted me a long time ago.  If she had known 18 years ago what I’m about to tell you, things would be very different now.  (And don’t worry, she knows it now. I just don’t think she would enjoy reading this post.)

I hate making beds.  No, I don’t hate doing it.  I just don’t believe in doing it.  Don’t get me wrong.  We do occasionally make our beds.  We always make them when someone is coming to our house…for the first time.  After that, we just shut our door.  Heck, we even have a few friends that we don’t even shut the door for.  (Shout out to Missy and Ryan!)  Anyway, as I was saying, generally we (thank goodness Scott and I fit together so nicely) don’t think twice about it.  It simply doesn’t make sense to make it in the morning when we’re rushing around getting ready to leave the house for the day, only to return to it later to climb back in.  Yeah, we straighten the blankets and sheets out before climbing in at night, but just can’t see the value, for us, of making the beds.  I have MUCH more fun things to do with Sammy before making the beds.

So, here are our beds, in all their unmade glory!

Oh, there is one bed in the house that generally stays made.  The guest bed.  It needs to stay made because it serves as a much better laundry station when it is made!

Head on over to Jennifer’s blog today to read other confessions and to enter the contest.  Leave me a comment if you do!  Or just tell me your own “clean house” confessions. Or, tell me what a freak family we are.  I will say, though, that if our beds were in a different location in the house, a high-traffic location like the dining room, then yes, I would make the beds everyday.  But they aren’t.  So I don’t!

Oh, I almost forgot!

Jennifer and I decided that Sam knows the secret to making housecleaning fun.  However, says Jennifer, if she did housework like this, her husband wouldn’t care how clean the house got.  I’m pretty sure Scott would agree!

Happy Cleaning, you suckers!  I’m off to play with Sam!

Glad to hear we're not the only ones who don't make beds. Like you say, What's the point, you're just going to climb back into it later.

This is hilarious!!! HAHA! My husband is definitely a bed maker, but honestly, I don't really care...we get right back into it later that day! He thinks it makes the room look neater. SO, on the days I'm home and get up after him...I'm rushing around at 5:30 to make the bed before he gets home so he can rest assured it was made all day!!!!
